I went to this awesome Shanghainese place inside of Yokohama Sogo on the 4th floor with some friends. We went on the weekend for lunch and It was packed with older women and housewives and if you sit by the window, you get a great view of the Yokohama Bay. We got there around noon and the place was already almost packed with only a few open tables left. I had the Vietnamese Cold noodle plate with oolong tea for 1150yen and my friends both had the special of the day which was a cold sesame noodle lunch set that comes with a hot tea and dessert for 1500yen. Everything was delicious and I recommend this place if you want decent Shanghainese food near Yokohama station.

This creperie has one of the best galette’s I’ve had. I don’t know why, but the combination of their soft but crunchy crepes with high quality ingredients inside is truly delicious. I had the cheese, chorizo, egg, and mushroom for 1155yen and I loved it. The other one you see pictured above is the cheese, chorizo, and tomato crepe for 1050yen.

With that said… The place has a bit of a strange attitude — for some reason pets are allowed but baby’s and kids aren’t, and smoking is allowed but taking pictures inside is not. I clearly managed to sneak in some pictures :p The portions are on the light side and the service also feels a bit slow since they make the crepes fresh as you order so If you are starving, this is definitely not the place to come to. However, if you’re just looking for a light lunch with really good food, give this a try.

As we were heading to Tokyo Skytree, I did a little research and decided to try this tsukemen place on the 6 floor of Soramachi. The store is originally from Osaki and it’s very highly rated so we visited their new soramachi location. As we got to the 6th floor, there was already a long line but it didn’t take very long to get seated.

Tsukemen is similar to Ramen except that the noodles come separated from the soup and you dip the noodles in as you eat them. The tsukemen at Rokurinsha is a combination pork + fish broth soup and the noodles are on the thicker side. You can choose between hot or cold noodles but they recommend going with the cold noodles since it’s firmer. We tried the Ajitama tsukemen for 950yen. Check it out if you’re into pork + fish broth soup and will be posting on Tokyo Skytree shortly! (Now posted here)

Found a nice Japanese restrauant in the midst of Jiyugaoka which is typically known for having more cafes and cute shops. We went here for lunch and it was a great experience: good food + attentive service. I had the wappa, which is a traditional Japanese dish cooked in special round containers made of thin wooden sheets. It comes with a salad, main dish, drink, and dessert for 1780yen. The other lunches were either 1600yen~1800yen and we thought it was a pretty good deal for the amount and quality of the food. If you are craving Japanese food in this hip town of Jiyugaoka, check out AEN :)

Vegetables in Japan are so good, you can really tell that the farmers here have pride and put their love into their products. We fell in love with this place because 1) they use fresh vegetables from local farmers in Japan, 2) they are totally affordable despite the high quality of their organic vegetables, and 3) it turns out they are owned by Mos Dining which also owns mos burgers.

Surprisingly, they even have a weekday lunch special that starts from 880yen. Everything we had was fresh and good, they didn’t even bother us when we stayed there for more than 3 hours, and there was lots of moms with baby carts there so it must be a very easy going place :) Even though this restaurant is located in the busy Shibuya area, it’s actually less crowded than the scramble cross walk so if you are a little intimidated by the crowds in Shibuya, this might be a good alternative for you!
