I’ve been searching for an authentic Vietnamese place but haven’t found one yet. I recently stumbled upon this place near Roppongi Hills that had pretty good reviews so I decided to give it a try. The lunch sets are a good deal as they all include a small spring roll, fried spring roll, and soup with your set.

Pictured above are the “Rice noodle soup (pho) with chicken + Vietnamese chicken Rice (small)” (1100yen) and the “ Vietnamese chicken rice” (1000yen). They were all good and flavored well but I have to say it wasn’t exactly authentic. If you know of any authentic Vietnamese place, please let me know!

Went to back to ‘Bills’ to get their famous Ricotta Cheese Pancakes but went to the Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku location instead of their original Shichirigahama location. Tokyu Plaza Omotesando Harajuku just had their 1 year anniversary and their rooftop garden is currently decorated beautifully with lots of spring flowers and a fun circus theme. It was lovely sitting outside on their terrace seating overlooking the rooftop garden while having some pancakes with a latte ♡

Such satisfying meal at Ondoru… My favorite Korean restaurant in town. Aside from their samgyeopsal, the Nira-chijimi is highly recommended.

A solid choice for great Italian food. Even though this restaurant is located on a random street in Roppongi, this place is quite popular and we noticed many people made reservations even for lunch. Perhaps it’s because the cost performance/price for the quality and amount you get is quite good.

For 1400yen, their set includes your choice between 5 handmade pasta dishes, a plate of all you can fit starters (you can’t go back to get more so try to put as much as you want the first round), a bread basket with a variety of breads, and a choice of multiple selections of coffees and teas (including a cappuccino or latte which is a bit rare). I was very satisfied with my meal and was not surprised as at all this place is so happening. If you want authentic good quality Italian, come here.

{ Yocco’s French Toast Cafe }

Yocco’s French Toast Cafe, a new place inside Trainichi (a cute little plaza in Jiyugaoka), opened last month (March 2013) with a concept of serving the best french toast in Japan. The place has a cute decor and it felt like it was going to be a promising experience.

We ordered the “French toast with poached egg and cheddar cheese” for 1400yen and the “Yocco’s Special French toast ~Scrambled Egg with Coquette Gratin of Seafood~” for 1400yen. Both came with maple syrup, red wine vinegar syrup, and pepper. We were so excited to try our plates but I have to say it was just OK. Our food sadly came served cold and the french toast wasn’t a stand out. Perhaps it’s because they are new so they may need a little more time to iron out the kinks. Their dessert french toasts looked good though so it might be worth a shot for dessert instead.

“Spice Cafe” is rated #1 amongst curry restaurants in Japan on a popular Japanese review site. I’ve previously posted Minoringo, which was rated #1 in the Harajuku area on the same review site but this one is ranked #1 in Japan?? As you can imagine, that instantly gave me some high expectations…

I have been on a curry phase lately and decided to make a reservation at this curry house which is very close to Tokyo Skytree (I highly recommend making reservations). We arrived at noon and the place was already full. We ordered two “Pair curry lunch set’s” (1350yen/each) and 1 curry lunch set (950yen) for the 3 of us. All of the sets include a small salad, curry, and a small dessert with coffee/tea. The “Pair Curry” comes with a slightly smaller portion of 2 different types of curry instead of one larger size (although the size difference is kind of hard to tell from my photos and even in person it’s really not that much bigger…)

I got the chicken curry (mild) and the assam curry (spicy) and I enjoyed both of them. The one with tomato and spinach is the coconut curry which is a little on the sweeter side. One of the others pictured was the shrimp curry which was one of the daily specials. This place also offers the “Oomori” option (a free larger portion of rice) if you prefer more rice. The pickles on the rice were yummy and over all we enjoyed the meal. Even the assam curry which is considered spicy wasn’t too spicy for me and had a nice flavoring to it. The service was good but felt a little rushed as there were so many people waiting outside.

As for being ranked #1 in Japan, I wasn’t really that blown away. I felt like Moona was just as good, but perhaps that’s just me? If you’re into soupy curries, you would definitely like this place.
