The best . Shaved ice . Ever!

I had to make a special post on this place because this was one of the most memorable things we ate during our trip and we loved it. The shaved ice is just so fluffy, soft, and melts in your mouth. Never had anything like this. Pictured above are “Bubble Milk Tea Sensation” (NT$180), “Lime Jasmine Tea Sensation” (NT$200) , and “Fresh Mango Sensation” (NT$200). All the boys liked the Milk tea flavored shaved ice the best and the girls liked the Mango one the most ★

{  Floresta Donuts  }

How adorable are these donuts? They don’t just look good, they are tasty too!

Floresta donuts as a company has a great environmentally friendly philosophy and they are trying to make the most natural and kind donuts for your body. They use safe, organic, local ingredients with no additives/preservatives and they are also careful with how much waste they produce to reduce their negative impact on the environment.

Their donuts are not the typical sweet style like Mr. Donuts. As soon as you try one you will notice it’s more on the health conscious side but they are still yummy and satisfying as a dessert. When I first discovered these donuts, I fell in love with them and wished they had more locations. The fact that they are constantly switching up the flavors every time I visit their shop is fun too. They rotate their daily selections as well as their seasonal donuts and special animal decorated donuts.

Cafe Z is another hidden gem in the back-alleys of Omotesando. Located on the 2nd floor of a clothing store called “Cabane de Zucca”, this cafe is a nice and quiet place to relax. I’ve dined here for lunch and also stopped by just for tea. Everything i’ve had here has been pretty good and has had decent-sized portions as well.

Pictured above: Spicy Tomato noodles (1200yen), Avocado steak burger with paprika sauce and rice (1200yen), and the Roasted Chicken flavored of Tandori Masala (1200yen). I very much enjoyed their royal milk tea (730yen) and the cake (700yen). Loved sitting on the balcony/terrace, it felt like we were in the country side for a second. So peaceful and surrounded by trees, it’s a great place to chill.

PS: Cafe Z has menu’s in both Japanese and English.

Yocco's French Toast Cafe

Yocco’s French Toast Cafe, a new place inside Trainichi (a cute little plaza in Jiyugaoka), opened last month (March 2013) with a concept of serving the best french toast in Japan. The place has a cute decor and it felt like it was going to be a promising experience.

We ordered the “French toast with poached egg and cheddar cheese” for 1400yen and the “Yocco’s Special French toast ~Scrambled Egg with Coquette Gratin of Seafood~” for 1400yen. Both came with maple syrup, red wine vinegar syrup, and pepper. We were so excited to try our plates but I have to say it was just OK. Our food sadly came served cold and the french toast wasn’t a stand out. Perhaps it’s because they are new so they may need a little more time to iron out the kinks. Their dessert french toasts looked good though so it might be worth a shot for dessert instead.

Tochimaru

We recently found our new favorite soft-serve spot! It happens to be inside of Soramachi at this store called “Tochimaru”, a shop that specializes in items from the Tochigi-prefecture in Japan. I can’t believe I am giving a four-star rating to a soft serve, but we really loved it. The gelato was also very good but the soft serve was on another level. It cost 400yen + 30yen extra to get it on a waffle cone.

PS: We came here after having lunch at Spice Cafe.
