Went hiking at Muir Woods National Park located 1hr North of San Francisco, CA. We went on the perfect day where it wasn’t too cold or too warm and we had a great time exploring the famous redwoods and enjoying our hike throughout this beautiful and quiet park full of vibrant greenery. As you may already know, I love hiking and have climbed Mt. Fuji, Takaosan, Komagatake, Half Dome in Yosemite, etc and now adding Muir Woods to my repertoire :)
They have multiple trails to choose from and you can mix the trails too which is nice. We got there first thing in the morning when the park opened at 8am and had a great ~4 hour hike. We then headed to Muir Beach and explored a bit plus stopped by Marin Country Mart as well.
It’s so nice that there’s such lush nature close to the city and I highly recommend this National Park if you are close to SF! We also went hiking to Big Basin State Park which is South of San Jose. It was another beautiful hike but the drive there is on a very windy road and made a few of us car sick… If I had to choose between these two parks, I would go for Muir Woods but both are worth checking out for a nice day trip of weekend getaway.
