I was in Los Angeles for the holidays and I ate quite a lot of yummy things while I was visiting. This is just a glimpse of a few places I ate at that I thought you might be interested in visiting if you’re ever in town. LA was pretty chilly when I visited but it was nice to get away from the Tokyo coldness.

From the Top,
1) At LACMA
2) Sycamore Kitchen near LACMA on La Brea
3) Ricky’s Fish Taco – I see why it’s so popular!
4) Four Daughters in Manhattan Beach – yummm
5) Palaik – Awesome samgyeopsal place in Ktown

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! 明けましておめでとうございます。

I hope everyone had a nice new years and holiday. Tokyo feels a lot colder today than just a few days ago. brrrr

The photos above are from a family photoshoot I shot for a client before the year ended. It came out so beautifully, wanted to share them with you :)

For New Years Day, my family and I went to Tsuruokahachimangu in Kamakura where it was insanely crowded. I went to Meiji-shrine last year so this was a lot less crowded but it still took 1.5hrs to get through this line…

I am preparing some posts on what I did during the holidays so stay tuned~

Happy New Year

2012 Top Posts

It’s almost a year since I started my blog and I’d have to say it’s been a fun and great experience. I’m surprised that I actually kept up with this but it’s nice to be able to have a catalogue of all of my favorite places in and around Tokyo on this site :) Thanks to all my friends who tagged along to try new places with me and waited to eat before every meal so that I could take pictures… :p It sure looks like I ate a lot of good food and I hope you guys got to try some of the places I shared with you or at least live vicariously through my photos. It’s been rewarding to see the growing traffic on my site and even though I’m not a food critic or a travel agent, it’s been fun sharing a taste of my life here in Japan. Thanks for following Tokyo Eats and to those who are new, welcome!

xoxo,
Maki

Here are some photos from a home party we had recently with the ladies. Everything was homemade, and I am fortunate to be surrounded by women who are very talented cooks! It was potluck so we each made a dish or two and I think it came together quite well. I’ve been eating way too much these days…

Thanksgiving in Japan

We recently gathered together some friends to have an American-style Thanksgiving dinner party here in Japan and we had a lovely get together. We each brought a few things and it worked out quite amazingly. Hope these photos can tell how good the food was ;) To those who celebrate Thanksgiving, hope you had a great one with your friends, family, and loved ones.
