Brown Rice Cafe

Here are some places I recently went back to and ate at again!

Above photos are from Brown Rice Cafe in Omotesando. The set I got this time has always been sold out by the time I visit but I finally got to try it. It’s made from all vegetables/tofu and the set is 2100yen including a small dessert and organic tea or coffee. I wish this meal was served warm as it’s getting cold these days.

Ippudo Ramen

Ippudo is having a special collaboration tomato-based ramen that was presented at the Tokyo Ramen Show. You can add toppings like bacon and cheese as well. This is going on for a limited time until 12/31 and it’s worth a try!

Senbikiya never disappoints. Everything I try from this place is perfection. Here are some desserts we took “to go” and I especially enjoyed the mango cake!

Mi Corazon is a Mexican joint tucked away in a quiet area a short walk from Nakameguro station. They are famous for their burgers and the “Mi Corazon Burger” (1500yen) was delicious. It has avocado, cheese, salsa, and chilibeans and it’s really tasty. We almost thought it might be better than Blacows but if you just taste the patty on it’s own, the 100% wagyu beef from Blacows is unbeatable… However, if you’re hungry for a burger with a mexican twist, definitely check out this place. Unfortunately their french fries were just OK but their fajitas were tasty.

{  Martiniburger  }

Martiniburger

Craving an NY style gourmet burger in Tokyo? Then try Martiniburger in Kagurazaka. When you first pass by this restaurant you might mistake it for a bar because of the Absolut Vodka signs that are advertised on their large windows and the neon blue bar counter that shines through, but it’s actually a great burger joint.

We tried the “Brooklyn” and the “Lite Burger”. The Brooklyn comes with a generous 200-gram all-beef patty, mushrooms, gouda cheese and bearnaise sauce along with a side dish of your choice for 1350yen (we chose the simple salad as the side). The Lite Burger has a 150-gram all-beef patty with an english muffin as the bun(!) and a side dish of your choice for 900yen (I chose the creamed spinach as the side).

They were both delicious. The great part about the burgers here is that you’re not overwhelmed by all the toppings, you really taste the 100% beef that is oh so juicy. And the price? Not too shabby for all of this food. Oh, and if you’re not in the mood for a burger but are craving American food, they also have chicken sandwiches, lasagnas, pecan pies, and cocktails :)

A&G Diner is yet another really good burger joint in town. This diner is so shockingly small, we peeked in and couldn’t believe how tiny it was. In fact, it only seats about 8 people total at one time. As soon as they start cooking your order, you smell the wonderful juiciness of the burger throughout the entire place. We tried the Avocado Cheese Burger, Special Burger (Bacon, Avocado, Chedder Cheese, Gouda Cheese, Fried Egg, and Teriyaki BBQ Sauce), and the Bacon Cheese Burger. They were all excellent.

Essentially this place serves perfectly executed American burgers. I definitely have the urge to go back and try the other burgers on their menu, especially their monthly burger which is ever-changing.

This place has been constantly rated #1 for hamburgers on a popular review site here. They seem to be temporary closed for a good amount of time though (Info updated on October 17, 2013). However, they have 2 other locations in Roppongi as well as Komazawadaigaku if you’re interested in checking them out.

Village Vanguard Diner
Village Vanguard Diner

I don’t know how, but Japan has some of the tastiest hamburgers… I’ve tried quite a few already, and they are all pretty good. This hamburger joint in Kichijyoji is called Village Vanguard – and it was so happening that the line was out the door during lunch time.

Their most popular burger is the ‘ABC Burger’, which includes avocado, bacon, and cheddar for 1100yen. The huge burger pictured above is the ‘Rockfeller’ and has pumpkin, 2 beef patties, tomato, cheese, and onion for 1480yen. The other avocado burger pictured above is the ‘Laver Burger’ which has a wasabi soysauce sauce inside for 1100yen. Everything was delicious. Definitely check this place out if you are in Kichijyoji.

PS: I still love Blacows… :)
