Mercer Brunch

Miss E (my friend who you frequently see on my blog) and I went to this new restaurant/cafe that opened at the end of last year near Roppongi Midtown. “Mercer” is a restaurant brand and this restaurant is their new concept that serves “brunch” (but they are open for dinner too). The restaurant feels very airy and the tall windows bring a lot of natural light in which is great on a sunny day. As soon as you walk in, you’ll notice the great fire place which is the centerpiece of the restaurant. There’s also a small terrace seating where you can dine with pets allowed but it was a tiny section.

Mercer Brunch is known for their brioche french toast, which was quite good. You get to choose your main dish out of 9 selections (but for some you have to pay additional $$) + french toast for 1600yen. Since it doesn’t include a drink, it feels rather pricey for lunch, but the quality of dishes we got were good so we were satisfied with our meal. The ambiance was nice and cozy, the staff were friendly, and we hardly had to wait so overall it was a good experience. In case you are wondering, we chose the grilled chicken salad and salmon tartar for our main dishes.

Stay tuned for my next post where we went shopping and had a tea break near the same area :)

Come to Bake Shop for Sunday Brunch, they have a tasty breakfast selection with lots of seating both indoors and out. This place has a relaxing atmosphere and was fillied with young families and friends who were enjoying their weekend outings together. I had the huevos rancheros, the one you see at the very top for 1260yen. The scrambled egg plate was very well seasoned and cost 950yen and the quiche chicken plate was 1050yen. All in all, a nice brunch :) This place is on the 4th floor so it’s hard to see it but check it out if you’re craving some good breakfast/brunch.

{  Bills – Shichirigahama  }

Bills - Shichirigahama
Bills - Shichirigahama

Finally got to eat at Bills in Shichirigahama!

This place is somehow known for having “The Worlds Best Breakfast”. I’m not sure if it really lives up to that standard but they sure do have some tasty food. Since we knew this place gets VERY crowded on the weekends, we went here during the week on a Friday hoping to avoid the crowds. We got there at around 1:30pm and were seated at 3:15pm… It ended up being almost a 2hr wait but we went to another cafe to kill time so it was fine.

Bills is located at a fabulous location. They have a great open view of the ocean and it’s very airy and bright. The cafe is decorated beautifully as well and I loved the feeling of the place. We ordered their famous ricotta cheese pancakes with banana and honeycomb butter (1400yen), Sweetcorn fritters with roasted tomato, spinach, bacon and avocado salad (1400yen), and Parmesan crumbed chicken schnitzel with spicy slaw (1500yen). They were all delicious and made us want to come back to try their scrambled eggs which is another one of their popular dishes.

I thought this place might just be all hype but now I can see why people love it. If only they didn’t have such a long wait I’d be there much more often.

{  Dexee Diner  }

Dexee Diner
Dexee Diner

Dexee Diner is a classic diner which serves a variety of different styles of food but never disappoints. Come for brunch on the weekends to get an American-style breakfast, for lunch to get pastas, pizzas, and salads, or for dinner to get hamburg and rice bowl plates. It’s located on the first floor of Ebisu Prime Square Tower and it’s always crowded. I’ve seen many private parties going on at night as well. I love many things about this place:  the food is good, the servers are friendly, the price is affordable and the atmosphere is nice and cozy. It’s the type of place where you can stay for hours just to hang out and they won’t bother you. The only thing I wish is that they would ban smoking since the smell can get strong if there are smokers around, but otherwise, this is a solid diner with above-average food.

{  Breadworks  }

Breadworks

Breadworks

This chic pastry shop is located on a man-made island called Tennozu Isle in Shinagawa-ku. There’s not really much there except a couple of really nice restaurants all owned by the same company that owns Breadworks.

Breadworks was surprisingly cheap and had really good pastries! We loved everything we had and spent hours just chit chatting. There was a constant flow of customers coming in and out of the cafe even though it’s located in an area that is off the beaten path. You almost forget you’re in Tokyo because of the relaxing view of the bay from the cafe windows. I will definitely be going back to this place!
