Maison de Reefur
Maison de Reefur

Maison de Reefur, opened on April 14, 2012 in Daikanyama, is a highly anticipated project that’s been in the works for the past two years by Rinka, a famous fashion model in Japan. The store’s concept is “A home in Paris”. The first floor has everything from clothing, shoes, stationary, bedding, candles, a flower shop, all the way to wedding dresses (by appointment only). The second floor is a cute cafe that was created with a hint of parisian decor and serves cafe-style Japanese food and desserts.

I’ve been really excited to visit this store and I have to admit that it was lovely. It’s very airy, has a wonderful scent, and is designed beautifully. However, there were too many staff to the point where they get in the way plus all the items in the store are notably expensive (though I suppose that is only natural, given the high-end location). Either way, if you are a Rinka fan, I’d say it’s worth checking it out. Also make sure you check out my other post here which covers Rosalie, the cafe on the 2nd floor.

Rosalie

Rosalie is a cute Parisian-styled cafe located on the second floor of Maison de Reefur. They’ve done a such great job with designing all the details of the space that it’s easy to see why this place is very popular amongst women, even the waitress outfits contribute to the cute Parisian atmosphere. In fact, the cafe was filled with over 90% women, many of whom were just there relaxing and reading books. Unfortunately the food was not as amazing as I wished it would be. Perhaps I had too high of hopes? Everything was just OK.

The cobb salad (1250yen) came with way too much dressing, to the point that I had to mix/remove some before I snapped the picture above. The ingredients were nice but the lettuce leaf was not the freshest. The Oyakodon (1200yen) was just average as well. The interesting thing is, you get to choose from two different types of chicken — one goes for 1000yen and the other goes for 1200yen. The difference is supposedly in the quality of chicken. If I decide to come back to dine here again, I will give the desserts a try instead of the savory dishes.

Hacienda Del Cielo

Hacienda Del Cielo is located on the 9th floor of a building in Daikanyama that overlooks Tokyo. The place is beautifully put together with vaulted ceilings, gorgeous colorful furniture, and a sexy outdoor terrace. The food is not too shabby either. Who knew you could get decent Mexican food in Tokyo?

We went on the weekend and got the lunch course that included an appetizer, salad, main dish, dessert, and drink for 1500yen. What a deal. The portions are generous too so we were very full afterwards. The place was packed around 12:30pm and people were lining up waiting for seats. I definitely want to come back when it’s warmer so I can enjoy the terrace seating. It looks like a great place for dinner dates too.

DISCLAIMER: This restaurant/cafe has sadly closed on December 14, 2012 :(

If you are craving for healthy greens or just simply good vegitables, come to GREEN in Daikanyama. This sweet spot is very popular amongst women and young moms with children. Although they had a few open tables when we got there, we had to wait about 30min to get seated because the tables were reserved (be sure to make reservations if you are coming here for lunch on the weekend). I’ve also been here for dinner but didn’t have to wait to be seated at all in that case.

The colorful vegitable plate called the “4 kinds of Deli Plate Set” which lets you choose any 4 dishes from the deli display. The set comes with soup, all you can eat bread, and a drink for 1500yen. The other picture you see is the “Mozzarella and Tomato Spaghetti Set” which comes with soup, salad, and drink for 1500yen as well. The quality of their vegitables and dishes were really good and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular. The ambiance is also very nice with vaulted ceilings and an open and airy feel.

{  Matsunosuke NY  }

Matsunosuke NY
Matsunosuke NY

Matsunosuke NY is an apple pie shop opened by Akiko Hirano. The shop is named after her grandfather Matunosuke. It’s a small sweets shop that also serves cheesecakes and pancakes but we only tried their apple pies — the “big apple pie” & the “sour cream apple pie”. They were both good and not overly sweet – which is a big plus for me since I’m not a fan of super sweet desserts.

If you’re lucky enough to get a window seat, you’ll be able to people watch all the fashionable people passing by through the large window. It’s a nice place to visit for a tea/coffee break or an afternoon snack.
