Brown Rice Cafe
Brown Rice Cafe

Brown Rice Cafe serves basic vegetables that somehow taste so good. There is no fancy presentation or elaborate cooking technique. They just serve you normal veggies but they draw out the strong natural flavor of the organic vegetables and it tastes so sweet and fresh. You can really tell this cafe puts a lot of effort into choosing the best seasonal ingredients from local farmers. I would say this is a dream cafe for anyone who believes in sustainable and local supplies.

Their menu doesn’t really have proteins, but the dishes are so filling that you almost forget you’re only eating vegetables. We love their “specials” that go for 2100yen. Aside from your meal, it includes a small dessert and drink. I really wish more places like this existed because it not only tastes good, but also happens to be good for your body and for the environment.

If you are craving for healthy greens or just simply good vegitables, come to GREEN in Daikanyama. This sweet spot is very popular amongst women and young moms with children. Although they had a few open tables when we got there, we had to wait about 30min to get seated because the tables were reserved (be sure to make reservations if you are coming here for lunch on the weekend). I’ve also been here for dinner but didn’t have to wait to be seated at all in that case.

The colorful vegitable plate called the “4 kinds of Deli Plate Set” which lets you choose any 4 dishes from the deli display. The set comes with soup, all you can eat bread, and a drink for 1500yen. The other picture you see is the “Mozzarella and Tomato Spaghetti Set” which comes with soup, salad, and drink for 1500yen as well. The quality of their vegitables and dishes were really good and it’s easy to see why it’s so popular. The ambiance is also very nice with vaulted ceilings and an open and airy feel.

Grano Delicatessen
Grano Delicatessen

Located near the entrance to Ebisu Garden Place is an organic deli called Grano Delicatessen which opened in September of 2011. They have many healthy choices to choose from and we had the dinner plate which includes two selections of your choice from the deli window case + main dish + brown rice or bread for 1300yen. For the main dish you can select a protein such as fish or meat, but this is also a great place for vegetarians as well. Since there’s not many vegetarian options in Japan, this is definitely a good option for those who are looking for good veggies. It’s an affordable and healthy choice despite its high-end Ebisu Garden Place location.

I really like their Honey Pumpkin Gorgonzola salad and their ginger lemonade hot tea. Not a huge fan of their desserts though. I’ve tried three different desserts so far but they were all just OK.
