“The Art Island”, Naoshima!

Have you been to Naoshima? It’s an island off of Kagawa, located in the Seto Inland Sea of Japan. Perhaps you might have seen photos of Yayoi Kusama’s famous pumpkin? The island is famous for its beautiful collection of contemporary art galleries and exhibits and can be seen all in one day.

Access to this island is either by ferry or boat. We took the ferry from Uno and visited all of the places below. It’s a nice relaxing getaway for those who want to experience a little time away from the city.

{  Announcing… ♡  }

It’s literally been the most rewarding as well as challenging 2+ months of our lives but I am very excited to introduce our daughter to all of you Tokyo Eats readers :) Thanks so much for all the warm wishes. We couldn’t be happier with such a blessing joining our family. Above photo is from a trip we recently took to Hawaii for a wedding as well as my daughter’s 1 week old photo.

Sadly, I haven’t been able to go out/won’t be able to go out to as many restaurants/cafe as I used to, but in the mean time, please check out my Tokyo Eats Guide Book if you haven’t already. It’s really packed with all my favorite places and I highly recommend getting a copy if you want advice on where to eat or visit in Tokyo.

Here are just a few comments from my awesome readers :)

Hi Maki,

Thank you for writing such a cute book! I just received my copy today and love it! I especially like the “secret” spots and the day trip notes.

Thanks again!
Tina

Maki,

I am from San Francisco, and I ordered your Tokyo Eats guide a few weeks ago. I cannot tell you how useful it has been on our trip so far. Your guide took us to restaurants we would have never known about on our own: xxx in Ginza, xxx in Ebisu, and xxx, to name a few. We are so grateful for your guide—it feels like we have the trusted advice of a friend.

Thank you so much,
Andrea

Dear Maki

I wanted to thank you for writing such a wonderful book! My husband and I just returned from Tokyo and we were so happy that we were able to try some of the great new places we found from your guide! We often visit Tokyo and mainly stay in the Roppongi area, so your recommendations gave us some new adventures in food! We love reading your blog and thank you again for creating such a wonderful guide. We look forward to trying more of your favorite places in the future!

Aloha from Hawaii! Lynn and Derek

Also, I just wanted to thank those of you who checked out places on my blog and kindly informed me when a restaurant/cafe went out of business. In this very competitive Tokyo food environment, it’s always hard to keep up with which ones close down so your comments have been very helpful.

Thanks again for following Tokyo Eats and hope you are all having a great day!

PS: My pinterest pin-it button wasn’t working for quite sometime but it’s now fixed.

xo,
Maki

We have a new addition joining our family!

I am excited to share that my husband and I are expecting a baby girl this summer :) It’s our first child and we are very excited yet nervous for this upcoming journey as new parents. Apologies in advance as there will be a period where I won’t be able to update the blog as much, but I hope to continue posting as much as I can in the near future.

Above are photos from our lovely Baby Shower♡ We had about fifty of our dear friends and family celebrate with us and we are so grateful and thankful. We literally had nothing and now we have everything from a stroller and crib to multiple beautifully hand knitted blankets and more! We look forward to welcoming this new life and introducing the little one to you soon.

xoxo,
Maki

Went hiking at Muir Woods National Park located 1hr North of San Francisco, CA. We went on the perfect day where it wasn’t too cold or too warm and we had a great time exploring the famous redwoods and enjoying our hike throughout this beautiful and quiet park full of vibrant greenery. As you may already know, I love hiking and have climbed Mt. Fuji, Takaosan, Komagatake, Half Dome in Yosemite, etc and now adding Muir Woods to my repertoire :)

They have multiple trails to choose from and you can mix the trails too which is nice. We got there first thing in the morning when the park opened at 8am and had a great ~4 hour hike. We then headed to Muir Beach and explored a bit plus stopped by Marin Country Mart as well.

Tokyo Eats Guide Book

Thank you so much for your amazing response and interest in the Tokyo Eats Guide Book and a special thanks to those of you who have already purchased a copy!! I have gotten emails & comments from readers and friends from all over the world and couldn’t be happier or more thankful for your love and support :)

……………………………………………………

I also wanted to take this opportunity to answer three questions I’ve received from several readers:

1) Is the guide book sold in local book stores in Japan?

The Tokyo Eats Guide Book is only available for online orders at the moment as I am self-publishing the book. I chose this company (which is owned by Amazon) so that it would be easier for English-language speakers to purchase. However, it seems like shipping to Japan doesn’t take too long since I’ve received some emails from readers and friends who received their copies relatively quickly. I will definitely keep you updated in the future should the book become available directly in Japan.

2) Is a PDF version of the Tokyo Eats Guide Book available?

Unfortunately there is no PDF or eBook version at this time. Sorry for the inconvenience.

3) How long does shipping take?

The book will be shipped from the United States. Please check HERE for the estimated delivery time to your country.

Thank you!
