This place is a little difficult to get to since it’s in the middle of nowhere, but I highly recommend it for a special occasion. The food and service is top notch and the old school retro setting with high-quality teppan yaki cooked right in front of you is a unique experience. The chef obsesses over every detail to make sure the food comes out perfect.

Lunch is served downstairs and you go upstairs for your dessert course. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. They use all fresh and seasonal ingredients and the meat was truly delicious, we just wish we’d have gotten more! The set we chose only included what felt like 5 tiny pieces…sigh* I guess you could pay more to have a larger portion. After the full course of dishes, you leave pretty full though. As always, lunch is more affordable than dinner so I recommend coming here for lunch if you had the option. We made reservations a month in advance.

Gotta admit I almost gave it my first 5 stars ever on Tokyo Eats but the portion of the meat was so small when we paid 1-man each for lunch, I had to make a tough decision of 4.5 stars :p Ukaitei is a chain and is located in a few locations throughout Tokyo and Kanagawa so check them out for a rare treat.
