Mar-De Napoli Pizzeria

I’ve been passing by this pizza place a few times and wanting to try it for some time so we finally went and checked it out. It seems like it’s actually a chain pizzeria but the one I went to in Setagaya-ku (by Yoga station) is the original store. Packed with families and couples, there’s always a long line during lunch-time but it circulates pretty fast so the wait is not too bad. As soon as you walk into the restaurant, the dessert display looks quite delicious and you immediately notice the well designed atmosphere. I really like how they put together a cute pizzeria in this quaint little town.

Anyhow, the food (Pizza) was actually just ok. I’ve had some really amazing pizzas lately at other restaurants I’ve already posted so I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re looking to have the BEST pizza in town. However, it’s a nice and easy place to come to with family and friends with a great atmosphere so in that sense, I recommend it :)

PS: This place has free parking!

Frey's Famous Pizzeria

If you are craving for good pizza, come to Frey’s. You won’t be dissapointed. Their Bianca pizza is one of our all-time favorite pizza’s ever.

Frey’s serves only 3 kinds of traditional Italian pizza’s, but they have truly mastered the flavors. The Margherita, Marinara, and Bianca pizza’s are each sold for 1500yen. Each pizza is not that big so one person can easily finish an entire pizza on their own. Our favorite hands down is the Bianca, but their Margherita is also quite good. I recommend making reservations as this place gets packed with locals.

{  Pizzeria e Trattoria DA ISA  }

Pizzeria e Trattoria DA ISA
Pizzeria e Trattoria DA ISA

Pizzeria e trattoria da ISA is a very authentic Italian style pizza place in Nakameguro. Their pizza is delicious. They make it fresh to order and we enjoyed both the margherita (their most popular pizza) for 1650yen and the 4 Formaggi (quatro cheese pizza) for 2350yen. This place is famous amongst foodies in Japan because the owner, Hisanori Yamamoto, has won the world pizza championship in Naples Italy for 3 consecutive years in a row — Yamamoto was the first-ever to win this championship 3 times in a row.

The restaurant is constantly crowded. We got there right when the restaurant opened at 5:30pm and we barely got one of the last few walk-in seats. Even though it wasn’t necessarily a comfortable and relaxing dinner, we enjoyed the quality and style of Yamamoto’s pizza. If you are ever in Nakameguro, definitely make a reservation and give it a try.

{  Partenope  }

Partenope

If you want really good authentic Italian Cuisine, check out Partenope in Hiro. They have one of the best pizza’s which reminded us of the food we had when we visited Naples, Italy. They are famous for their pizza and it’s easy to see why. The special combination of their dough, tomato sauce and olive oil makes it unique and excellent. Just writing this post makes me already want to go back and try their pastas and other dishes. I suggest you to make reservations if you are planning to go at night. They are always crowded and we’ve never been able to walk-in and get a seat without a long wait.
