My friend introduced me to this hole-in-the-wall Monjyayaki place in Tsukishima. Monjyayaki is a type of Japanese pan-fried batter with various ingredients. It is similar to Okonomiyaki but it is actually a specialty of the Kantō region and is made with a more liquid dough than Okonomiyaki.

Tsukishima is well-known as a competitive battleground for Monjyayaki. There are many nicer looking restaurants in the area but I fell in love with this particular restaurant’s Salmon Monjya. I keep coming back here because I crave for that specific monjya. I haven’t tried many of their other options but their most popular monjya is the Tarako-mochi monjya. We also tried their special which was a spinach monjya with onions, tomato, and cheese on top. It was good but not my fav. I am planning to try their most popular tarako mochi monjya next time :)
